Sony unveils Xperia S smartphone for Rs 32,549


Sony Mobile Communications launched its NXT series smartphone for Indian market.

Sony unveils Xperia SAfter declaring itself wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Corporation, Sony Mobile Communications unveiled Xperia NXT series smartphones in India. The series include Xperia S, Xperia P, Xperia U and Xperia Sola. As company claims, the flagship model Xperia S boasts HD technology. The phone has 4.3 inch TFT touchscreen and is packed with 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Dual Core processor. Presently the device runs on Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and will be upgradeable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich by second quarter of this year. With 12.1 megapixel camera, the phone has features like auto focus, 16X     digital zoom and LED flash.
“Now as part of the Sony group, we are in an even stronger position to bring connected entertainment experiences to consumers in India. Bringing together the best of Sony’s electronics, networked services and content, the Xperia smartphone is a cornerstone to enjoy entertainment in this connected world,” said P. Balaji, managing director, Sony Mobile Communications India.
Sony Xperia S is priced at Rs. 32,549 whereas the costs of other devices have not been yet disclosed.
Sony Xperia P, Xperia U and Xperia Sola too run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and are upgradeable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich by second quarter of this year.
The Xperia NXT series also provides access to Sony Entertainment Network, a portal for consumers to access premium entertainment such as music, movies and TV shows from convenient account.
