iPad goes plain with name, high on features

15-192x192Apple has officially launched the much anticipated new edition of the iPad. The new iPad, (yes that’s what it has been named!) comes with a Retina display with 2048 X 1536 resolution at 264 pixels per inch (ppi) with 44 per cent greater colour saturation than the previous one – which is greater than some of the HDTVs out there. It also features an A5X chip with quad core graphics processor which will make every single detail shine out four times more than on the iPad 2.
At 9.7 inches, the screen size of the new iPad has been kept the same as that of the iPad 2. The new iPad also comes with a 5.0 megapixel iSight camera, with auto focus and face detection, which is capable of shooting 1080p HD video. Also making its debut on the iPad is support for 4G connectivity and the option to create Wi-Fi hotspots. There are two types of iPad models available in the market, one with Wi-Fi and 4G and the other sans the 4G connectivity. Battery back-up remains  unchanged at a very impressive ten hours, and another thing that has not changed is its price. The new iPad starts at $499 for the Wi-Fi only 16GB model, which is the same as the launching price of both the original iPad as well as the iPad 2. When will it come to India? We wish we knew!
